Profile of the Head of Sixth Form

Mrs. Shinelly James joined the BATCE institution in August 2008. She served for seven years as a Physics Teacher and Coordinator of the World of Work Programme, and has since spent a further seven years in her current role as Head of Sixth Form. In this capacity, Mrs. James has chaired several BATCE committees, including Performance Management, Professional Development, and Curriculum Review.

She holds the following qualifications from the University of the West Indies, St Augustine: a First Class Honours Bachelor of Science degree, with a major in Physics and minors in Electronics and Materials Science; a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, with distinction in the Teaching of Science; and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, also with distinction.

Mrs. James has participated in numerous local, regional, and international webinars, workshops, and conferences focused on leadership development, curriculum improvement, parental engagement, policy development, instruction, assessment, data use, performance management, and strategic planning.

She is deeply committed to her country and is passionate about developing future leaders. Mrs. James also serves as the administrator of the Professional Development Network Facebook Group, which includes approximately 1,000 members from countries around the world.

Her personal philosophy is: “I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.”
