Member of the Board

Sonia Noel graduated from The University of the West Indies with a BSc in Chemistry and Physics and a Diploma in Education. She taught for more than 20 years in the secondary school system before making a career change into the wider Public Service. Ms Noel was a member of the group of science teachers who formed the Association of Science Education in Trinidad and Tobago(ASETT).  In 1988, she was an active participant in the ASETT Team that hosted in Trinidad and Tobago the first international Science Conference for Caribbean Youth. 

Having obtained a professional qualification in accountancy, Ms Noel transferred into the Public Service in 1989, with her entry into the Ministry of Industry, Enterprise and Tourism. She moved through several positions in the Public Service and eventually retired in 2005 as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance. During her period of public service, she was a member of the board of directors of several State Enterprises. She was also a member of the Vision 2020 National Strategic Planning Team.

From 2007 to 2014 Ms Noel served as Diocesan Secretary for The Anglican Church in the Diocese of Trinidad and Tobago(ACDTT).  Under the direction of the Bishop of the Diocese she coordinated a series of capacity building exercises which preceded the development of the ACDTT Strategic Plan 2016 – 2020. Notwithstanding retirement she continues to participate in several committees at Diocesan level and at St Mary’s Parish where she worships.
